Ferris State University's women's golf team is in fifth place after the first day of the Beall Fall Classic, which began Monday at the Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio. The event is hosted by the University of Findlay and features 17 teams competing over 54 holes.
After two rounds on Monday, Ferris State posted a combined score of 624. The Bulldogs recorded a 308 in the opening round and followed with a 316 in round two. The final round will be played Tuesday.
Host team Findlay leads after day one with a total score of 595, eight shots ahead of Grand Valley State, which sits at 603. Indianapolis holds third place at 614, while Gannon is fourth with a score of 623, just ahead of Ferris State.
Kamryn Shannon from Ferris State leads individually after two rounds. She finished the day at two-under par with an even-par 72 in her first round and a two-under 70 in her second for a total score of 142. Shannon has a five-shot lead over Ellie Yeazell from Findlay, who is second at 147.
Other Ferris State players include Taylor Musselman, tied for 30th with scores of 78 and 80 for a total of 158; Lizzie Anderson, tied for 40th after shooting rounds of 76 and 84 to finish at 160; Kylie Walker, tied for 53rd with back-to-back rounds of 82 for a total score of 164; and Ashley Thomasma, who shares the spot at number sixty after posting scores of 82 and 84 for a combined total of 166.
Paige Anderson competed as an individual for Ferris State and shot an opening-round score of 87 followed by an improved second-round score of 84 to finish day one with a total score of 171 and tied for seventy-fourth place.
