Ferris State women's golf ties for second at Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invite

The Ferris State University women's golf team tied for second place at the 17th annual Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invite, which concluded Monday at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale. The Bulldogs finished with a total score of 593 over 36 holes, recording a 286 in the first round and a 307 in the second. Their +17 performance matched Findlay for runner-up honors, while host Grand Valley State University (GVSU) won the event with a nine-over-par score of 585.

Ferris State led by five strokes after the opening round but ultimately settled for its second consecutive runner-up finish. Over the previous weekend, the team also placed second behind GVSU at its own Bulldog Fall Classic held at Katke Golf Course.

Senior Kamryn Shannon was Ferris State's top performer, finishing fifth individually with a two-round total of 145 after shooting scores of 71 and 74 on the par-72 course. Ashley Thomasma followed closely in sixth place with back-to-back rounds of one-over-par 73 for a total of 146.

Lizzie Anderson also secured a spot in the top ten, tying for eighth place after carding a first-round 71 and a second-round 78 to finish at 149. Kylie Walker tied for twentieth with a score of 153, posting rounds of 71 and 82. Taylor Musselman rounded out Ferris State’s team scoring, tying for forty-sixth with an overall score of 165 from rounds of 80 and 85.

Several Bulldogs competed as individuals during the tournament. Paige Anderson tied for thirty-fourth place with scores of 82 and 78 (160 total). Isabel Kelly finished tied for fifty-eighth (173), while Katelyn Walker took sixty-second place (178).

The Bulldogs are scheduled to compete next at the Beall Fall Classic hosted by the University of Findlay on October 6-7 in Findlay, Ohio.
