Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed President Trump's new proclamation on H-1B visas and highlighted ongoing efforts to support air traffic controllers through a series of posts on her official social media account.
On September 20, 2025, Scholten posted: "Make no mistake: President Trump's latest proclamation on H-1B visas is an attack on our economy, and a further assault on health care.
https://t.co/zwKEoFssBU". The following day, she provided direct advice for visa holders by stating: "If you're a current H-1B visa holder in the United States, you should not leave the country. If you're out of the country, you should consider returning home from abroad immediately.

Scholten has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after replacing Peter Meijer as representative for Michigan's 3rd district. She was born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and continues to reside there. Her educational background includes a BA from Gordon College (2004) and a JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore (2011).
