Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted her legislative efforts on clean water protection and support for small businesses through a series of posts on her social media account.
On September 19, 2025, Scholten wrote, "I‘ll always work to protect clean water, including our wetlands, and to ensure we are doing everything we can to limit the devastation of future floods in Michigan and beyond. That’s why I’m leading the Federal-State Partnership for Clean Water Act — a step in the right https://t.co/ayDh9Z6sDN". In a follow-up post made seconds later on September 19, she added, "Read more here. https://t.co/W6ecOeGslR".
Addressing economic concerns the following day, Scholten posted on September 20: "Our small businesses face myriad challenges when competing in the federal marketplace, and my amendment to the NDAA would help maintain a level playing field for these entrepreneurs. I’m proud that this amendment is moving to the Senate, and I encourage my colleagues to vote https://t.co/qdNnvzsELn".
Scholten has served as Michigan's 3rd District representative since replacing Peter Meijer in 2023. Born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and currently residing there at age 41, Scholten holds degrees from Gordon College (BA) and the University of Maryland, Baltimore (JD).
