Ferris State University has announced that nearly 200 of its student-athletes have been recognized for their academic achievements by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for the 2024-25 athletics campaign. The recognition was confirmed by the league office.
The honored student-athletes come from 16 of Ferris State's 17 varsity programs, with NCAA Division I men's ice hockey being the only exception as it competes in the CCHA. Including hockey, almost half of Ferris State University's approximately 400 student-athletes were acknowledged for their academic performance this year.
The GLIAC awarded over 2,000 all-academic honors to student-athletes throughout the conference. According to the criteria, a student-athlete must be an active roster member at the season's end and not a freshman or first-year transfer student. All-Academic Teams include those who meet these requirements and maintain a cumulative GPA between 3.0 and 3.49. The Academic Excellence Teams consist of those with a cumulative GPA ranging from 3.50 to 4.0.
Ferris State concluded the 2024-25 athletics season with its student-athletes appearing on either fall, winter, or spring all-academic teams depending on their sport.
