Ferris State University's men's and women's tennis teams have secured spots in the NCAA Division II Tournament. The announcement was made during a live selection event on Monday evening.
The NCAA Division II National Men's & Women's selection committees disclosed the tournament fields on NCAA.com. The Ferris State women's team has earned its 23rd national tournament bid, marking the second consecutive year of qualification. Meanwhile, the men's team is making its 10th straight appearance and 28th overall in the NCAA Tournament. Both teams are under the leadership of head coach Mark Doren.
In the Midwest Region, the Ferris State women's team is seeded fifth and will compete against fourth-seeded Tiffin in the first round on Monday, May 12, at noon Eastern Time in Detroit. Wayne State University will host one of two Midwest Region brackets, with the winner advancing to face Wayne State on Tuesday, May 13, at noon Eastern Time for a chance to progress to the D2 Sweet Sixteen scheduled for May 20-25 in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
The Ferris State men's team is seeded sixth in their region and will play third-seeded Wayne State in their first-round match on Friday, May 9, at 2 p.m. Eastern Time at Center Grove High School near Indianapolis. In another bracket matchup, top-seeded host Indianapolis will take on seventh-seeded Purdue Northwest at 10 a.m. Eastern Time. The winners from these matches will meet in the bracket final on Saturday, May 10, at noon Eastern Time. The victor of this four-team event will advance to the NCAA-II round of 16 in Florida.
Currently, both Ferris State teams hold an overall record of 12-8 for this season and each finished third in the GLIAC during regular-season play while reaching the conference tournament semifinals.
