May 2, 2025 – In a significant performance by both men's and women's outdoor track and field teams, Ferris State University concluded the 2025 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships on Friday in Allendale. The combined effort resulted in the Bulldogs' best showing in nearly 20 years.
The women's team garnered 59 points, securing a sixth-place finish. This was their highest score in the league's outdoor meet since 2008 when they finished fourth with 89 points. Meanwhile, the men's team achieved 34 points, ending in seventh place, which was a point short of last year's performance and nearly matched their best since 2005.
In the women's events, Ferris State took second place in the 4x100-meter relay. The impressive performance by Lacey Zimmerman, Angela Kotecki, Darnesha Fraley, and Allie Delost set a new school record with a time of 46.91 seconds. Whitney Farrell earned a National Provisional qualifying time by finishing fourth in the 3,000 steeplechase at 10:44.33.
Delost also placed fourth in the 100 meters, and Abigail Winkle achieved fifth place in the 400 meters and eighth in the 200 meters. Kotecki, Marvin, Brock, Tyron, and Le contributed points with their respective rankings in various events. The women's 4x400-meter relay team achieved sixth place with a timing of 3:58.46.
On the men's side, Devin Dennison excelled in the hammer throw and discus, obtaining second and third places, respectively. Cooper Sorsen finished third in the 5,000 meters, and Jack Romel achieved third in the javelin. Sutton, Fronta, Floriano, Langeland, Rogers, Strobel, Bowerman, Josef, and both relay teams earned points for the Bulldogs in their events.
