The Ferris State University women's golf team has secured a spot in the NCAA Division II East Regional Championships for the fourth consecutive year. The announcement came on Monday as the national committee released the list of postseason qualifiers.
The Bulldogs are part of a group of five teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) competing in the East Regional, alongside Grand Valley State, Wayne State, Davenport, and Saginaw Valley State. The regional competition is scheduled from May 5-7 at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale and is hosted by Grand Valley State University.
Ferris State's participation marks their fourth-straight appearance at the championship. Three years ago, they placed 11th at the East Regional Championships. Their history includes 13 consecutive NCAA appearances from 2002 to 2014 and a recent seventh-place finish in both 2023 and 2024's regional tournaments.
A total of 18 teams from six different conferences, including individual competitors from non-qualifying schools, will compete in the 54-hole event. The top five teams and the top two individuals not part of an advancing team will proceed to the national championships scheduled for May 13-17 in Boulder City, Nevada.
Ferris State has achieved regional championship wins twice, in 2003-04 and 2006-07, and has been runners-up four times. Last year, the Bulldogs received an at-large bid after advancing previously as the GLIAC's automatic qualifier following their league championship win. This year, they earned runner-up honors within the GLIAC Championships.
The East Regional qualifier list includes teams such as Findlay, Grand Valley State, and others. The individual competitors are noted as Sydney Hugo of Walsh, Lucia Martin from Charleston, and several more.
