For the 20th occasion in the past 22 years, Ferris State University's men's golf team has secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs will compete in the 2025 Midwest/Central Super Regional from May 8 to 10 at the St. Joseph Country Club, located in St. Joseph, Missouri.
The NCAA-II Men's Golf Selection Committee announced the selection of 80 teams and 32 individual student-athletes for regional competition on Friday, April 25. The Midwest/Central Regional will be organized by the St. Joseph Sports Commission and Missouri Western University.
This regional event will feature 10 teams from both the Midwest and Central Regions. Additionally, four individuals from each region will participate in the 54-hole tournament. At least the top three teams and the top two individual golfers not affiliated with a team from each regional will progress to the finals, scheduled for May 19-23 at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The region with the highest representation in the previous year's championships may qualify additional teams, with a cap of seven teams per region. Palm Beach Atlantic along with the Palm Beach County Sports Commission will host the finals.
From the Midwest Region, the teams participating include Missouri S&T ranked as the top seed, followed by Grand Valley State, Wayne State, Missouri-St. Louis, Findlay, Ferris State, Ohio Dominican, Saginaw Valley State, Ashland, and Hillsdale. Ferris State holds the sixth seed.
Representing the Central Region, Central Oklahoma is the leading seed followed by Henderson State, Harding, Washburn, Arkansas Tech, Southern Arkansas, Concordia-St. Paul, Winona State, Central Missouri, and Arkansas-Fort Smith.
The Bulldogs have shown strong performances in past regionals. Notably, in 2017, they achieved runner-up status in the Midwest/Central Super Regional, later advancing to a national quarterfinal finish. In 2019, they tied for third at the super regional, ultimately placing 20th in the NCAA D2 National Championships. Further, the team returned to the field in 2021, finishing tenth in the Super Regional, then proceeded to secure ninth place overall in 2023. Most recently, last year, Ferris State placed fifth in the Midwest Region and ended in a ninth-place national finish.
Ferris State men's golf has consistently appeared in the NCAA Tournament, achieving this 20 times over the last 22 years. This commendable streak ranks among the best in men's golf nationally.
Leading up to this regional appearance, Ferris State advanced to the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals, winning the stroke play segment of the conference championships held April 18-19 in Augusta, Michigan.
