Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball team successfully opened their final weekend of the regular season with a sweep against Roosevelt University, achieving two identical 5-2 victories in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road games near Chicago on Saturday, April 26.

These wins improved the Bulldogs' record to 26-16 overall and 15-11 in the conference, setting up their final doubleheader for the league season.

In the opening game, both teams recorded seven hits, but it was Ferris State that capitalized with four runs in the fourth inning. Roosevelt University was held to a single additional run, with the Bulldogs adding one more run in the sixth. Notable performances came from FSU's second baseman, Jadyn Joseph, who had two hits. First baseman Alexis Kozlowski contributed with a hit, an RBI, a run scored, and two walks. Shortstop Bailey McCalister doubled and notched an RBI, while catcher Emily Killion and outfielder Emma Gillard also drove in runs. FSU also executed seven stolen bases, with Joseph and McCalister each obtaining two.

Catherine O'Donohue led in the pitching circle for the Bulldogs, allowing two runs on seven hits in seven innings, striking out nine and issuing three walks.

The second game witnessed Ferris State compiling 10 hits and restricting the Lakers to just three. After Roosevelt pulled ahead with two runs in the third inning, the Bulldogs equalized the score in the fifth and then took the lead by scoring three in the seventh.

Kozlowski and McCalister again led with two hits each, contributing along with Maddie Gkekas and Brooklyn Verbeek, who also provided key RBIs.
