Ferris State University's men's golf team achieved a second-place finish at the Motor City Meltdown, hosted by Wayne State University. The tournament, a 36-hole event, took place at TPC Michigan in Dearborn. The Bulldogs finished with a team score of 594, just 11 strokes behind Wayne State University, which took the championship with a score of 583. The event saw participation from nine teams.
Ferris State's Kole Putnam led his team, finishing fourth with a score of 146, shooting a 70 in the first round and a 76 in the second. McCoy Biagioli tied for eighth, scoring 149 with rounds of 68 and 81. Drayton Cleaver tied for 11th place with a 150 total on rounds of 74 and 76. Zach Koerner, with rounds of 74 and 78, secured 15th place with a total score of 152. Sam Havey finished 22nd with a 154, shooting 76 and 78 over the two rounds.
The Ferris State "B" team finished eighth. Notably, Alex Kaems tied for 11th place with a score of 150 after rounds of 72 and 78. Michael Fenech finished 28th at 160, while Ben Miller followed at 29th place with a score of 161. Will Heavisides ended 39th, scoring a total of 168 over the two rounds.
Ferris State University will next compete in the GLIAC Championships in Augusta, Michigan, scheduled for April 18-20.
