Ferris State women's golf team wins NC4K Classic Championship

Big Rapids, Mich. — The Ferris State University women's golf team has secured its first championship win of the year at the NC4K Classic. The Bulldogs emerged victorious in the competition held in Grove City, Ohio, with events taking place on April 7th and 8th.

Ferris State achieved a two-round team score of 608, surpassing Grand Valley State by 10 strokes in the 16-team event hosted at the Pinnacle Golf Club by Ohio Dominican University. On the first day of the tournament, the team scored 307, followed by an improved score of 301 on the second day.

Impressively, Ferris State's Lizzie Anderson was the individual winner of the tournament, attaining her first career win with a six-over total score of 150. Anderson recorded identical scores of 75 in both rounds, edging out Gannon's Cloe Mateo by one.

Other key performances for the team included Taylor Musselman and Ashley Thomasma, who both tied for eighth place with scores of 155 over the two rounds. Musselman scored a 77 on the first day and 78 on the second, while Thomasma posted a 75 followed by an 80.

Kylie Walker finished in 12th place with a total of 157, shooting an 80 on the first day and improving to 77 on the second.

Veteran player Kamryn Shannon and teammate Susie Gietl both tied for 15th with a total of 158 each. Shannon turned around an initial 84 score with a notable 74 on the second day. Gietl improved from an 83 in the first round to shooting 75 on the second.

Ferris State is scheduled to continue their season at the Missouri-St. Louis Spring Invitational on April 13th and 14th in St. Louis, Missouri.
