Ferris State University achieved a successful weekend by securing victories against Parkside, completing a series sweep on Sunday. The Bulldogs triumphed with scores of 10-4 and 4-2, adding to their win tally after defeating Roosevelt earlier in the weekend.
In the opening game, Ferris State registered 13 hits while restricting Parkside to six. Junior Catherine O'Donohue was pivotal in securing the win, her eighth of the season, allowing only three earned runs, striking out eight, and conceding just two walks. Despite Parkside's early lead, Ferris State promptly responded and maintained control, eventually extending their lead in the later innings. Contributions came from players like Emily Killion, who delivered three hits and three RBIs, and Bailey McCalister, who also had three hits and two RBIs.
The nightcap saw Ferris State again overcoming an initial deficit. Though edged in hits by Parkside, the Bulldogs managed a 4-2 win, assisted by Killion's two hits and scoring runs, as well as Brooklyn Verbeek's two RBIs. Cecelia Bell secured the win on the mound, with O'Donohue providing a crucial save in relief.
This weekend's results place Ferris State second in the league standings, holding a 19-11 overall record and an 8-6 conference record. They are set to host Davenport on Wednesday for their upcoming games.
