Ferris State University softball team faced the Tiffin Dragons in a non-league doubleheader at the Rosemont Dome in Chicago. The Bulldogs won the first game 5-1 but were defeated 7-6 in nine innings during the second game. This match was organized after the Blue Bridge Battle in Evansville, Indiana, was canceled.
In the first game, Ferris State established an early lead with three runs in the opening inning and secured their fourth win of the season. They finished with eight hits while limiting Tiffin to five. "Both second baseman Jadyn Joseph and centerfielder Emma Gillard had two hits apiece for FSU," noted a report on their performance. Cecelia Bell pitched all seven innings, allowing only one run and securing two strikeouts.
The second game saw both teams exchanging leads. Tiffin initially led with three runs before Ferris State equalized by the fourth inning. The game extended into extra innings where Tiffin scored three more runs in the ninth, which proved decisive despite Ferris State's attempt to catch up with two additional runs.
Shortstop Jayden Marlatt excelled with four hits while Alexis Kozlowski added three hits for Ferris State. "Gillard and Bell both drove in two runs," highlighting their contribution to the team's effort.
Ferris State plans to continue its regional matches next week against Ohio Dominican and Findlay.
