The Ferris State University men's golf team began their spring semester competition by participating in The Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate event, which took place on February 10-11 in St. Augustine, Florida. The Bulldogs finished in 12th place with a total score of 892 over three rounds.

This tournament was hosted by Lincoln Memorial University at the St. Johns Golf Club and included some of the nation's top collegiate teams. In total, 19 teams competed, including eight schools ranked among the nation's top 44. Among these were six top 25 teams and four from the top 11.

Lincoln Memorial, ranked seventh nationally, won the event with a score of 850. Wingate, ranked 23rd, tied for second place with Columbus State, which is ranked tenth; both teams scored an overall 855.

Most competing teams hailed from Florida, Georgia, or Tennessee. Ferris State was the only team from north of Tennessee to participate in this event. The Bulldogs recorded scores of 298 and 298 in the first two rounds and a final round score of 301.

Putnam's performance included marks of 73, then two consecutive scores - one being another round at par (74) before closing with a mark below par (79).
