Hillary Scholten addresses human rights and legislation via social media

Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, representing Michigan's 3rd district, recently shared her thoughts and initiatives through a series of tweets. Scholten, who has been serving in Congress since 2023 after replacing Peter Meijer, addressed various topics ranging from human rights to blood donation and legislative achievements.

On December 10, 2024, Scholten emphasized the importance of human rights as fundamental to a just society. She stated: "Human rights are the foundation of a just society. Let’s continue our work to expand human rights across the globe – especially for our children. As the co-lead of the Child Labor Prevention Task Force, I won’t stop working until we end child labor once and for all."

Later that day, she encouraged individuals to donate blood during the holiday season. On December 10, 2024, she tweeted: "In this season of giving, consider giving blood. You never know whose life you could change – or even save – by doing so. I donated last week, and it’s quick, easy, and SO worth it to help our neighbors in need."

Additionally on December 10th, Scholten announced a bipartisan legislative success with the passage of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA). She expressed satisfaction with this achievement in another tweet: "Today, my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and I passed the final version of the Water Resources Development Act. WRDA will protect our Great Lakes while fortifying our flow of commerce — a huge win for MI-03!"
