Ferris State men's golf finishes fifth at Bill Crabtree Invitational

The Ferris State University men's golf team concluded its fall season with a fifth-place finish at the Bill Crabtree Invitational in Owensboro, Kentucky. The event ended on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

The Bulldogs achieved a combined score of 585 over two days, with rounds of 291 and 294. Ferris State, ranked 26th nationally, was among the top five teams in a field of 14 that included two other nationally-ranked teams.

Missouri S&T, ranked 22nd, won the tournament with a total score of 558. Gannon University, ranked 13th, secured second place with a score of 568. McKendree University finished third with a score of 578, while Southern Indiana took fourth place with a score of 584.

Ferris State's Sam Havey led his team by tying for the 14th position overall with scores of 70 and 73 across the two rounds for a total of 143. Zach Koerner tied for the 21st spot with scores of 74 and 72 for an overall total of 146.

Kole Putnam from Ferris State tied for the 29th position on the leaderboard after scoring rounds of 77 and then improving to a round of 72 on Tuesday to achieve an overall score of 149.

Alex Kaems also contributed to Ferris State's performance by tying for the 38th position alongside teammate McCoy Biagioli. Both golfers scored an overall total of152 but had different individual round scores: Kaems shot rounds of74 and78 while Biagioli scored78 followed by74.

Drayton Cleaver rounded out Ferris State's participants by finishing tied for52nd place after shooting73 in his first round but dropping to82 in his final round resulting in an overall score155.

This tournament marked the end-of-fall competition schedule for Ferris State University's men's golf team who will return to action during their spring season starting March next year.
