Davenport University is set to host the second annual I-96 Blood Battle on February 6 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The event is organized by the DU Athletic Training Staff and Danielle Pipal, Assistant Director of Student Life.
The blood drive aims to promote donations through a friendly competition between Davenport University (DU) and Wayne State University (WSU). In the previous year, WSU emerged victorious by a narrow margin of 0.5%, with 57 pints of blood collected during the event. These donations were instrumental in saving approximately 171 lives.
Each donation has the potential to save up to three lives. The blood drive will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the DeVos and Van Andel Academic Center/CLE (Old Library). While walk-ins are welcome, donors have the option to schedule an appointment online.
The winner of this year's trophy will be announced during the men's and women's basketball games at Wayne State on February 10, with the women's game starting at 1 p.m.
