Davenport University celebrates academic achievements among student-athletes in NCAA Division II

Davenport University has demonstrated a strong commitment to balancing academic and athletic success among its student-athletes during the 2021-22 academic year. The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) recognized 174 Davenport student-athletes for maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher, awarding them All-Academic Excellence honors.

The university also excelled in the NCAA's Academic Success Rate, ranking sixth in NCAA Division II as of December. This rate measures the percentage of student-athletes who graduate within six years of initial enrollment. Davenport achieved a 96 percent success rate, an increase of three percentage points from previous years.

Several Davenport teams received national recognition for their academic achievements. The women's golf team ranked third in NCAA Division II for team GPA with a score of 3.889, according to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). The women's volleyball team earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award with a GPA of 3.58, while the women's basketball team was included on the WBCA Academic Team Honor Roll with a GPA of 3.507.

Both men's and women's cross country and track and field teams were acknowledged by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The men's cross country team had a GPA of 3.33, while the women's team maintained a GPA of 3.71. Additionally, both track and field squads were recognized as All-Academic Teams, with GPAs of 3.39 for men and 3.57 for women.

The swimming and diving teams also received accolades from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The men's program achieved a GPA of 3.23, while the women's program recorded a GPA of 3.59 during the winter semester.
