Six student-athletes from Ferris State University's golf teams have been recognized with All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honors. The university's teams also received two major awards, as announced on Wednesday.

Ferris State secured two first-team positions, three second-team spots, and one honorable mention through votes cast by the league's head coaches. Sam Stark, head coach of the men's golf team, was named GLIAC Men's Golf Coach of the Year. Freshman McCoy Biagioli earned the title of GLIAC Men's Golf Freshman of the Year.

For the women's team, Kamryn Shannon achieved All-GLIAC First Team status while Dani Staskowski was selected for the second team. Lizzie Anderson received an honorable mention.

In men's golf, Caleb Bond was recognized as a first-team all-conference player. Biagioli and Nathan Kraynyk were selected for the second team.

Under Stark's leadership, the men's team won the 2024 GLIAC Championship and secured a place in the NCAA Tournament. They achieved their 22nd league championship by defeating Grand Valley State in Augusta and will participate in this week's NCAA Midwest/Central Super Regional in Oklahoma. The men's team has reached at least the semifinals in league championships five times consecutively and claimed three titles since 2019 under Stark's guidance.

Biagioli has had an impressive debut season with a 72.6 adjusted average over 31 rounds, ranking among the top 30 individual players regionally. He finished 13th at conference championships and contributed significantly to Ferris State's victory in head-to-head matches during semifinals and finals play. Biagioli also secured a runner-up finish at FSU's B&R Investments Bulldog Fall Classic with five top-10 finishes throughout the year.

Both Ferris State teams are set to compete in this spring’s NCAA Division II Tournament under Stark’s management.
