Ferris State concludes cross country season at NCAA regional championships

Ferris State University's men's and women's cross country teams concluded their fall season at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships. The event took place on Saturday, November 4, at Angel Mounds Cross Country Course in Evansville, Indiana. The championships were organized by the Great Lakes Valley Conference along with the Evansville Sports Commission.

The Ferris State women's team secured 12th place in the region, accumulating a total of 375 points. In contrast, the men's team finished in 17th place with 478 points. Both divisions saw participation from over 30 teams.

Junior Hanna Brock led the Ferris State women in the 6K race with a time of 21:45.3. Other notable performances included Daisy Englund finishing 70th with a time of 22:07.8 and Whitney Farrell securing the 76th position at 22:13.3. Becci Castillo placed 86th clocking in at 22:28.5, while Danae Feldpausch completed the race in 104th place with a time of 22:45.2.

On the men's side, sophomore Cooper Sorsen was Ferris State's top performer, finishing in 58th place on the 10K course with a time of 32:19.0. Brendan Cairney came in at 89th position with a time of 33:02.8, followed closely by Ryan Ososki who placed 92nd at 33:06.4. Brandon Wirth and Noah Griffith rounded out Ferris State's top five runners, placing 120th and 123rd respectively.

With this competition marking the end of their fall schedule, Ferris State's cross country teams will now shift focus to preparing for the upcoming winter indoor track and field season.
