Ferris State University's men's golf team is once again heading to the NCAA Tournament. The team has been selected for the 2024 Midwest/Central Super Regional, marking its 19th appearance in the last 21 years. The event will be held from May 9-11 at KickingBird Golf Course in Edmond, Oklahoma.
The announcement came on Friday, April 26, from the NCAA-II Men's Golf Selection Committee, which listed a total of 80 teams and 32 individual student-athletes for regional competition. Hosted by Southern Nazarene University, the regional tournament will feature ten teams each from both the Midwest and Central Regions, along with four individuals per region competing in a 54-hole tournament.
Advancing to the finals scheduled for May 21-25 at Orange Country National Golf Center and Lodge in Winter Garden, Florida will be the top five teams and two individual student-athletes not affiliated with a team from each regional. Rollins College and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission are set to host these finals.
Ferris State's participation follows their success as they claimed this spring's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) championship. Other Midwest Region participants include top-seeded Grand Valley State followed by Indianapolis, Missouri S&T, Wayne State, Findlay, Tiffin, Missouri-St. Louis, McKendree, and Davenport. Ferris State enters as the fourth seed.
From the Central Region, Central Oklahoma leads as top seed followed by Henderson State and other institutions including Missouri Southern State and Harding.
Historically successful in this tournament series, Ferris State finished as runner-up in 2017 during the NCAA-II Midwest/Central Super Regional before advancing to national quarterfinals. In subsequent years such as 2019 and 2021 they continued to perform well nationally with notable placements.
Ferris State secured its position through an impressive performance at GLIAC Championship by overcoming rival Grand Valley State on April 14 in Augusta, Michigan—a victory that marked their all-time GLIAC Championship win number twenty-two.
