The Ferris State University men's golf team has secured a place in the 2024 NCAA Division II National Championships in Florida. The Bulldogs achieved a fifth-place finish at the NCAA D2 Midwest/Central Super Regional Championships, which concluded on May 11 in Edmond, Oklahoma.

The team posted a final-round score of 277, concluding the 54-hole tournament with an overall score of 834, or six-under par. This performance earned them one of the top five spots necessary to advance to the national championships scheduled for May 21-25 in Winter Garden, Florida. This marks Ferris State's 17th appearance at the national championships and their first since 2019.

Ferris State's total was three strokes ahead of Missouri S&T, who finished sixth with a score of 837 or three-under par. Entering the final round tied for fourth place with Henderson State and Missouri S&T among a field of twenty teams, Ferris State improved their standing with consistent scores across all rounds: a 279 on Thursday, followed by a 278 on Friday, and closing with a 277.

Central Oklahoma emerged as the regional winner at Kickingbird Golf Course with an impressive score of 823 (-17), while Henderson State claimed second place at 824 (-16). Harding finished third (830) and Grand Valley State took fourth (831), joining Ferris State in advancing to nationals.

Notable performances from Ferris State included freshman McCoy Biagioli's strong final round where he carded a six-under-par score of 64, finishing tied for third individually at 203. Nathan Kraynyk placed sixth after shooting a final-round score of 69 and ending with an overall score of 204.

Caleb Bond ended tied for tenth on the leaderboard with a total score of 206 after shooting one-over-par on Saturday. Zach Koerner and Drayton Cleaver completed their tournaments placing tied for eighty-seventh and one hundred seventh respectively.

The regional event was hosted by Southern Nazarene University featuring ten teams each from both Midwest and Central regions along with individual competitors. The top five teams along with two student-athletes not affiliated with advancing teams will compete in the finals hosted by Rollins College and Greater Orlando Sports Commission at Orange Country National Golf Center and Lodge.

Historically successful in NCAA tournaments, this year marks Ferris State's nineteenth representation out of twenty-one years when held. Their consistent participation highlights one of the best stretches nationally within men's golf programs.

Ferris State recently captured its twenty-second GLIAC Championship title against Grand Valley State on April fourteenth in Augusta, Michigan.
