Two Ferris State University men's golf players, Caleb Bond and McCoy Biagioli, have been recognized on the 2024 NCAA Division II PING All-Midwest Region Team. This announcement was made by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The pair played a significant role in leading Ferris State to win the 2024 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship and securing a spot in the upcoming NCAA Division II National Championships.
Bond and Biagioli were among only 12 individuals from the Midwest Region selected for this honor. Student-athletes from eight regions received all-region honors this year, making them eligible for All-America accolades.
Earlier this year, Bond was awarded All-GLIAC First Team recognition, while Biagioli was named GLIAC Men's Golf Freshman of the Year and earned a place on the second-team all-league. In recent competitions, Biagioli finished tied for third individually at the NCAA Super Regional, with Bond tying for 10th place.
Ferris State is set to compete in the 2024 NCAA Division II National Championships in Florida next week. The team secured their spot after finishing fifth at the NCAA D2 Midwest/Central Super Regional Championships on May 11 in Edmond, Oklahoma. The Bulldogs completed their final round with a score of 277 and ended six-under par for the tournament.
This marks Ferris State's 17th appearance in program history at the national championships and their first since 2019. It also continues a trend where they have participated in 19 out of the last 21 years when held. Their consistent presence ranks as one of the best records nationally.
Additionally, Ferris State claimed its 22nd GLIAC Championship title by defeating Grand Valley State on April 14 in Augusta, Michigan.
