Glens Falls, New York - The Adirondack Thunder, part of the ECHL, have signed Matt Slick to a standard player contract. Slick, a senior defenseman from Ferris State, is stepping into professional hockey for the first time.

Originally from Buffalo, New York, Slick joined Ferris State as a graduate transfer from the College of the Holy Cross for the 2022-23 season. His leadership qualities were quickly recognized by his teammates who voted him captain just seven weeks after his arrival.

During his time at Ferris State, Slick played 34 games and scored 11 points. He shared the lead in goal-scoring among defensemen with fellow co-captain Brenden MacLaren. Over his collegiate career, he accumulated 39 points in 155 games and served as captain at Holy Cross before transferring.

The Thunder are currently ranked fifth in the ECHL's Northern conference. Slick will join former Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) players such as Mareks Mitens, Brandon Schultz, Nick Rivera, and Matt Jennings on the team.

Adirondack is set to face off against the Worcester Railers in three consecutive matches starting Wednesday. Fans with FloHockey subscriptions can watch these games without extra charges.
