Under the leadership of fourth-year head coach Kurt Westendorp, Ferris State concluded the 2023-24 season with an impressive record of 26 wins and six losses—the best in school history. The Bulldogs not only claimed their first Midwest Regional Championship but also advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight for the first time, reaching as far as the national semifinals.
During this remarkable season, Ferris State defeated three teams that were ranked number one nationally at game time, including Grand Valley State University (GVSU) once and Ashland University twice. Additionally, they secured a victory over GVSU during the Midwest Regional Championship game when GVSU was ranked second nationally, marking four significant wins against top-ranked opponents throughout the year.
