The Ferris State University women's golf team began their campaign at the NCAA Division II East Regional Championships in Indiana on Monday, May 6. The team recorded a score of 318 during the first round held at the Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel. This performance places them tied for seventh among 15 teams and just one shot behind fifth place as they move into the second day.

Day two is scheduled for Tuesday, May 7, with Ferris State teeing off at 8:39 a.m. Eastern Time. The final round will occur on Wednesday, May 8.

Leading after the first day is Findlay with a score of 299 (+11), followed by Indianapolis (+12), Ashland (+20), and Davenport (+27). Grand Valley State and Missouri-St. Louis are one stroke ahead of Ferris State, both with scores of +29.

Individually for Ferris State, Dani Staskowski posted a score of 77 and is tied for 19th place. Lizzie Anderson and Hallie Crozier both scored an 80, tying them for 36th place. Taylor Musselman shot an 81, tying her for 44th place, while Kamryn Shannon scored an 84 to sit tied for 57th.

Saginaw Valley State's Brook Herbstreit led individually with a two-under-par score of 70 on the par-72 course measuring over 6,000 yards.

This marks Ferris State's third consecutive appearance at the East Regional Championships. In their history, they have made numerous NCAA appearances since their streak from 2002 to 2014 and achieved regional championships in both the 2003-04 and 2006-07 seasons.

Fifteen teams from six conferences were selected to compete along with six individual competitors from non-advancing schools. The top five teams from this region and two individuals not on advancing teams will proceed to the national championships scheduled from May 21-25 in Winter Garden, Florida.

Ferris State qualified this year via an at-large bid following their performance last season as GLIAC's automatic qualifier when they won the league championship for the first time since spring of last year in Augusta, Michigan.
