Ferris State women advance to GLIAC semifinals with win over Saginaw Valley

Ferris State University's women's soccer team secured a spot in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Semifinals with a 1-0 victory over Saginaw Valley State. The quarterfinal match took place on Monday, November 6, in University Center.

The Bulldogs, now holding a record of 7-8-4, had previously defeated the Cardinals 2-1 on Thursday, November 2, during the regular season finale. This recent win sets up Ferris State to face Northern Michigan in the semifinals on Friday, November 10. Northern Michigan is hosting the semifinals and finals after defeating Purdue Northwest 3-0.

Lauren Kubacki was instrumental in goal for Ferris State during Monday's game, making four saves and securing a shutout. The game's only goal came from FSU senior Payton Price at the 25:59 mark of the first half. Her unassisted seventh goal of the season was achieved by controlling a pass into the box and beating Lainey Garbarz to score.

Throughout the match, Ferris State made four shots on goal and committed 14 fouls while taking one corner kick. Saginaw Valley also managed four shots on target but had six corner kicks and seven fouls.

Ferris State will continue their tournament journey against Northern Michigan Wildcats this Friday in Marquette. Further details will be provided by the league office following all quarterfinal matches.
