Ferris State women's soccer ends season after semifinal loss to Northern Michigan

Ferris State University's women's soccer team concluded their season with a 4-1 defeat against Northern Michigan University in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Semifinals. The match took place on Friday, November 10, in Marquette.

The Bulldogs finished their season with a record of 7-9-4 after losing to the Wildcats. Northern Michigan will face Wisconsin-Parkside in the GLIAC Tournament Championship on Sunday, November 12, following Wisconsin-Parkside's victory over Grand Valley State with a score of 1-0 in another semifinal match.

During the game against Northern Michigan, Lauren Kubacki started as goalkeeper for Ferris State. She recorded six saves and allowed four goals during her 77 minutes on the field. Keelee Griffin replaced her for the final 13 minutes and made one save.

Northern Michigan established a commanding lead with goals from Molly Pistorius at 4:34, Calihan Bearden at 39:06, Madison Bilbia at 55:47, and another from Pistorius at 63:29. Bearden and Bilbia scored from corner kicks.

Ferris State managed to score once at the 82:12 mark when senior Isabella Sabo netted her first goal of the year. Despite this effort, Ferris State could not close the gap.

Throughout the match, Ferris State had seven shots on goal, two corner kicks, committed 14 fouls, and made seven saves. Northern Michigan had eleven shots on target, five corner kicks, committed eleven fouls, and made six saves.

Katherine Welch was named GLIAC Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-GLIAC Second Team for her performance throughout the season. She led Ferris State with eight goals and seventeen points. Senior Payton Price also contributed seven goals and seventeen points while Lindsay Cole received GLIAC Honorable Mention recognition. Kubacki led Bulldog goalkeepers with a record of three wins and one loss along with a .875 save percentage. Darya Mosallaei achieved four shutouts in twelve starts for Ferris State.
