Ferris State University's women's soccer team has seen two of its players recognized with All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honors for the 2023 season. The announcement came on Thursday as the all-conference teams were revealed.

Freshman forward Katherine Welch from Ada and Grand Rapids Christian High School received the GLIAC's Freshman of the Year Award. In addition, she earned a spot on the all-conference second team through votes by the league's head coaches. Junior defender Lindsay Cole from Grand Rapids Catholic Central was named to the GLIAC Honorable Mention team.

Welch has been instrumental in leading Ferris State to the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals this season. She has scored a team-high eight goals and is tied for first place on her team with 17 total points this year. Welch also achieved two game-winning goals and led her squad with 45 shots, including 19 on target. Notably, she scored four goals in a single match during FSU's victory over Purdue Northwest on October 13, marking one of the top performances in program history.

Welch finished her freshman season ranked second in total goals and tied for third in total points among GLIAC leaders.

Cole has contributed consistently throughout the campaign, starting all 19 games. As an outside back player, she provided four assists along with 13 shots and five shots on goal.

Ferris State will compete against top-seeded Northern Michigan in the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals on Friday, November 10, at Marquette starting at 2 p.m. Eastern Time.
