Ferris State University softball player Alexis Kozlowski has been named to the 2024 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Midwest Region First Team. This marks a significant achievement as she is the first Bulldog to receive this honor since Amanda Harrington and Holly Bruntjens in 2009.
Kozlowski, a freshman from Gaylord, was previously recognized by being named to both the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) First Team and as the GLIAC Freshman of the Year. Her nomination for the NFCA team came through voting conducted by NFCA member head coaches from each region. With this accolade, she is now eligible for selection to the 2024 NFCA Division II All-America squads.
In her rookie season, Kozlowski was one of only three players from the GLIAC selected for the all-region first team. She played a pivotal role in leading Ferris State to a top-four finish in the GLIAC and securing a spot in the conference tournament. Over 52 games, she achieved a .361 batting average with 61 hits and 48 RBIs, along with 19 doubles, six triples, and six home runs. Her performance also included scoring 26 runs and achieving a .651 slugging percentage and .404 on-base figure.
Kozlowski led her conference with 19 doubles and six triples while ranking second in hits and RBIs during regular-season play. She was among the league's top performers in batting average and home runs, recording two or more hits in 23 games this season.
The NFCA serves as a professional organization for fastpitch softball coaches, offering various resources such as coaches polls, awards, educational podcasts, events, and conventions.
Ferris State concluded their season with 25 victories—the most wins for FSU in eight years—with plans for most of their young roster to return next year.
