The Ferris State University women's golf team concluded the second day of competition at the NCAA Division II East Regional Championships in seventh place. The event is being held at the Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana. The Bulldogs remain within reach of advancing to the next stage as they head into the final round.
On Tuesday, Ferris State recorded a team score of 316, improving by two strokes from their first-round performance on Monday. Their total stands at 634 or +58 over 36 holes. The concluding round of this 54-hole tournament will take place on Wednesday.
Currently, Ferris State holds seventh place in the standings and is just four strokes behind Davenport, which occupies fifth place with a +54 (630) total. Only the top five teams from this 15-school regional will advance to the NCAA D2 National Championships.
Findlay leads the field with a +24 score, followed by Indianapolis (+27), Ashland (+42), Grand Valley State (+44), and Davenport rounding out the top five. Missouri-St. Louis is sixth at +56, just ahead of Ferris State by two shots. A narrow margin separates Davenport, UMSL, and FSU for that crucial fifth spot.
Individually, Dani Staskowski from FSU is tied for 11th with a total score of 153 after rounds of 77 and 76. Lizzie Anderson follows with a combined score of 159 after shooting an 80 and then a 79 in her rounds, placing her tied for 32nd.
Kamryn Shannon and Taylor Musselman are both tied for 43rd overall with scores of 163 each. Shannon improved her performance with a second-round score of 79 compared to her initial round of 84. Musselman scored an 82 following an opening round of 81.
Hallie Crozier completed Tuesday's play with an overall score of 168 after posting rounds of 80 and then an 88, placing her tied for 63rd.
Ferris State's team will start their final round early on Wednesday morning at approximately 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time.
This marks Ferris State's third consecutive appearance at this stage; they finished seventh last year in Springfield, Illinois. In previous years, they have achieved notable success including two regional championships and multiple runner-up finishes.
The East Region comprises teams from six different conferences along with individual competitors from non-advancing schools. The top five teams plus the top two individuals not part of advancing teams will move on to compete at the national championships scheduled for May 21-25 in Winter Garden, Florida.
