The Ferris State University softball team is set to begin its postseason journey at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament this weekend. The tournament will take place from May 2-5 at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont, Illinois. Ferris State aims to secure its third GLIAC Tournament title in the program's history.

The Bulldogs, entering as the number four seed, will face Wayne State, the fifth seed, in an opening-round match on Thursday, May 2. The game is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. Eastern Time. Under the guidance of second-year head coach Jake Schumann, Ferris State concluded the regular season with 24 wins, marking their most successful regular-season performance in eight years. Their opponent, Wayne State, holds a record of 17-28 overall and a 9-15 record in league play.

The six-team tournament field includes Grand Valley State, Saginaw Valley State, Purdue Northwest, Ferris State, Wayne State, and Parkside. Grand Valley State secured the top seed after sharing the GLIAC regular-season title with Saginaw Valley State.

The championship game of the GLIAC Softball Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, May 5, also in Rosemont. The winner will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament at a campus site yet to be announced.

Ferris State has previously won two conference tournaments in 2000 and 2005 and has a record of 19-24 in GLIAC Tournament play since 2005. This year marks their third consecutive appearance in the league tournament.

Tickets for the tournament are available online for $14 for adults and $8 for students or children per day.
