Ferris State University women's soccer players Katherine Welch and Lindsay Cole have been honored with selections to the 2023 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Midwest Region Team. Welch, a freshman forward from Ada/Grand Rapids Christian, and Cole, a junior defender from Grand Rapids/Catholic Central, were both named to the second team.

A total of 26 student-athletes were recognized in the region across two teams, comprising 13 first-team selections and 13 second-team choices. Candidates for these honors were nominated by communication professionals within the NCAA Division II Midwest Region, covering four position categories. Following nominations, votes were cast by school and conference communication professionals.

The D2CCA plays a vital role in promoting Division II athletics and sportsmanship as key components of higher education. It serves as a communications link among conferences and collaborates closely with the NCAA to impact Division II intercollegiate athletics.

Earlier this year, both Welch and Cole received recognition on the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) squad. Welch was named GLIAC Freshman of the Year and earned all-conference second team honors. She led her team to the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals with eight goals and 17 points overall this season. Her performance included scoring four goals in one match against Purdue Northwest on October 13.

Cole started all 20 matches for Ferris State this season, contributing four assists along with her defensive duties.
