Ferris State University's softball team split a doubleheader against Purdue Northwest on Sunday, April 21, during their senior day celebrations at the FSU Softball Field. The Bulldogs secured a narrow 1-0 victory in the first game but fell short with a 2-1 loss in the second.

The team honored senior pitcher Aryn Gallacher, who played a crucial role in the first game's win. Gallacher pitched a complete game shutout, marking her eighth victory of the season. She struck out three batters and allowed no runs despite giving up ten hits.

The Bulldogs clinched the opener with an RBI double by Alexis Kozlowski in the bottom of the eighth inning, which brought home Jadyn Joseph for the winning run. Kozlowski contributed two of Ferris State's five hits during this game.

In contrast, Purdue Northwest took an early lead in game two with two runs in the second inning. Ferris State managed to score once in the fourth but could not capitalize on opportunities later in the game. Despite loading bases in the seventh inning, they were unable to overcome PNW's defense.

Ashley Webb pitched all seven innings for Ferris State in game two, allowing only one earned run on five hits while striking out one batter. Gabby Paliska from Purdue Northwest limited Ferris State to one run on six hits over seven innings, striking out seven and walking five.

Looking ahead, Ferris State is scheduled to host Lewis University (Illinois) for a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, April 23 at 1 p.m. Eastern Time at their home field.
