Ferris State softball splits home games against Davenport

Ferris State University softball team played a doubleheader against Davenport University in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Saturday at the FSU Softball Field. The Bulldogs secured a 7-0 victory in the first game but were defeated 4-1 in the second.

In the first game, Ferris State's senior pitcher Aryn Gallacher delivered an impressive performance, pitching six innings and allowing only two hits while striking out six. Sophie Wisniski came in to secure the save with no hits allowed in the seventh inning. Offensively, Ferris State scored four runs in the first inning, followed by one run in the second and two more in the fourth. Jadyn Joseph led with four hits and two runs, while Ella McDonald added two hits and three runs.

The second game saw Davenport score three runs in the second inning and hold on for a win as they limited Ferris State to four hits and one run. Maddie Gkekas doubled in a run for Ferris State. Pitchers Izzy Regner, Rylie Haist, and Ashley Webb combined efforts on the mound for Ferris State, with Webb finishing strong by not allowing any hits or runs.

Davenport's Savanna Disbrow was instrumental offensively with three RBIs, including a two-run homer. Hailey Whisman pitched for Davenport and earned the win by allowing just one earned run on four hits.

Ferris State's overall record stands at 20-19, placing them second in GLIAC standings with a 7-5 league record. They will face Grand Valley State next.
