Ferris State University's softball team concluded its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road trip with a split against Parkside on Monday in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The Bulldogs dropped the first game 6-5 but secured a 12-3 victory in the second game, ending their trip with a 3-1 record after sweeping Purdue Northwest on Saturday.
The doubleheader was initially scheduled for Sunday but was postponed to Monday. In the first game, Ferris State led 4-1 by the third inning. However, Parkside rallied with four runs in the fifth inning and limited Ferris State to one run over the final innings to clinch the win. Emma Gillard contributed two hits and two RBIs for Ferris State, while Ella McDonald also had two hits.
Aryn Gallacher pitched four and two-thirds innings for Ferris State, allowing six earned runs on seven hits. Sophie Wisniski provided relief with one and one-third innings of shutout pitching.
In the second game, Ferris State scored early and consistently, accumulating 13 hits against Parkside's seven. Brooklyn Verbeek led with three hits and three RBIs. Izzy Regner pitched four innings for Ferris State, giving up one earned run on three hits.
Ferris State will host Wayne State at home on Tuesday for a rescheduled doubleheader at FSU Softball Field in Big Rapids.
