Ferris State University's men's and women's track and field teams participated in the Bill Clinger Classic at Grand Valley State's Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale. The event took place on Friday, January 26, 2024, featuring competition from various schools.
For the women's team, Claudia Wilkinson secured second place in the high jump with a height of 5-4.5. Rebecca Marvin achieved third place in the weight throw with a distance of 47-1.50 and finished seventh in the shot put at 39-1. In the women's 5,000 meters, Hanna Brock placed third with a time of 17:55.11, followed by Whitney Farrell in fourth at 18:10.59 and Melanea Strauss in sixth at 18:23.32.
Becci Castillo was sixth in the women's one mile open run with a time of 5:21.97 and ninth in the 3,000 meter open division clocking 10:48.72. Abigail Winkle finished eighth in the 400 meters at 58.91 seconds, while Denae Feldpausch came ninth in the women's one mile run invite field with a time of 5:04.62.
On the men's side, Gavin Vansolkema finished fourth in the men's one mile open run with a time of 4:22.58. Cooper Sorsen also took fourth place in the 5,000 meters clocking at 15:05.48, and Chase Carter came fifth in the 60 meters with a time of 6.95 seconds. Blaine Rogers ended eighth in the 60-meter hurdles finishing at 9.62 seconds.
In field events for men, Ben Dousuah secured fifth place in shot put reaching a distance of 44-2, while Hunter Richardson placed seventh with a throw of 42-2.25 inches in the same event. Devin Dennison achieved third place in weight throw covering a distance of 48-5.50.
The Bulldogs are set to compete again back at Allendale during the annual GVSU Big Meet scheduled for February 9-10.
