Ferris State cross country finishes strong at Live In The Lou Classic

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country teams participated in the Live In The Lou Classic on Saturday, Oct. 5, finishing among the top 10 in one of the nation's largest events held at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.

The Bulldog women's team secured third place overall in the 5K Blue Division with a total of 135 points. The University of Charlotte claimed first place with 51 points, followed by Illinois-Chicago with 135 points ahead of Ferris State University (FSU).

Senior Hanna Brock led the Bulldogs with a fourth-place finish and a time of 18:18.4. Junior Whitney Farrell finished seventh at 18:31.3, while Jessica Durkee took 33rd place with a time of 19:05.7. Daisy Englund came in at 48th place with a time of 19:22.8, and Melanea Strauss finished in 57th place at 19:31.7.

In the men's division, Ferris State placed tenth overall with a score of 277 points in the competitive field where Xavier emerged victorious with a score of 69 and Charlotte took second place with a score of 99 out of more than thirty competing teams.

Junior Cooper Sorsen was the leading performer for the Bulldogs, securing an eleventh-place finish with a time of 25:07.1. Ryan Ososki came in at fifty-second position clocking at 25:51.1; junior Gavin Vansolkema finished sixty-sixth at 26:03.4; sophomore Ben Knuth secured seventy-seventh position timing at 26:11.2; and senior Noah Griffith completed his run placing eighty-eighth at a time of 26:18.3.

Ferris State is set to compete next in the Lewis Conference Crossover scheduled for Saturday, Oct.12, in Romeoville, Ill.
