Ferris State men's golf ranks fifth after first day at Doc Spragg Invite

Ferris State University's men's golf team is in fifth place after the first day of competition at the Doc Spragg Invite in Ohio. The tournament, hosted by the University of Findlay, includes 19 teams and spans two days.

On Monday, Ferris State shot even par over two rounds, achieving a six-under total in the first round and a six-over in the second. Their scores were 282 and 294, totaling 576 for the day.

Grand Valley State led with a score of 599, followed by Findlay at 567, Ashland at 574, and Wayne State at 575.

Sam Havey from Ferris State is tied for fourth individually with a score of 140 after shooting a 68 in the first round and a 72 in the second. Kole Putnam is tied for sixth with an overall score of 141, recording a round of 67 initially and then a 74.

McCoy Biagioli scored a total of 147 on Monday, tying for 37th place with rounds of 73 and 74. Zach Koerner achieved identical rounds of 74 for a total score of 148, placing him tied for 46th. Shayne Beaufait finished tied for 62nd with a score of 151 after rounds of 77 and then improving to a round of 74.

The event is held at Findlay Country Club. The final round will commence on Tuesday starting at 9 a.m. Eastern Time.
