Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad concluded action on Monday at the 2024 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships in Allendale.
The Bulldog tandem of Parker Nolan and Ana Sofia Hernandez Ferrer picked up two wins on the final day to win the back draw doubles championship. After a tightly-contested 9-8 setback in the first round, the duo went on to win four matches in a row to close the tournament.
Additionally, FSU's Katherine Earnest won her opening match of the morning on Monday before falling in the back draw championship match. Earnest also reached the back draw B doubles semifinal with partner Ayva Johnstone before bowing out of the event.
The day concluded a strong weekend run for the Bulldogs, which saw eight of FSU's nine competitors earn at least one singles win on Saturday, including three that represented FSU in the main A draw. Ferris State was one of only four teams from the region to have three student-athletes advance past the first round out of the 22 Midwest Region schools competing in the field.
