Ferris State University alum Dominic Hennig, who formerly served as the voice of Bulldog Hockey, has achieved a significant career milestone by joining the National Hockey League (NHL). On Monday, it was officially announced that Hennig has been appointed as the new Manager of Team Services for the Minnesota Wild.

Hennig began his professional career at Ferris State University (FSU), where he served as the radio and television play-by-play broadcaster for Ferris State's NCAA Division I hockey program for six years. He also worked as the university's Athletics Communications Associate from 2009 to 2015.

Before joining the Wild, Hennig was employed as Team Services Manager for the American Hockey League's (AHL) San Diego Gulls. The Detroit native has an extensive background in broadcasting and communications, having held positions such as Senior Director of Broadcasting, Communications and Hockey Operations for the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He also played a crucial role in launching one of six NCAA Division I conferences as Director of Strategic Communications and Brand Advancement with the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA).

After leaving Ferris State, Hennig served as Director of Broadcasting and Communications for the OHL's Flint Firebirds for six seasons from 2015 to 2021. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and Public Relations with a minor in Sports Communications from Ferris State, earned in 2013.

During his tenure at Ferris State, Hennig contributed significantly to broadcast, communications, and multimedia initiatives for Ferris State Athletics. He called two conference regular season titles in both the CCHA and Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) and announced Ferris State's run to the NCAA National Championship game in 2012.

Additionally, Hennig played an integral role in marketing Bulldog Hockey and increasing attendance over six consecutive seasons. His efforts led to a notable expansion of the "Dawg Pound" student section following a 150% surge in season ticket sales over three years. He also helped develop a social media presence for Ferris State that has been recognized nationally by the NCAA.

Hennig married his wife Nicole in 2022. His brother Nate Hennig played collegiate hockey at Ferris State from 2007 to 2011.

Dominic Hennig is among several individuals affiliated with Ferris State Hockey who have reached prominent positions within the NHL. This group includes current Detroit Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde; former Bulldog goaltender Jeff Blashill, now an assistant coach with Tampa Bay Lightning; Brian Garlock, Tampa Bay’s video coordinator; and Seth Appert, recently appointed assistant coach with Buffalo Sabres.
