Sweetheart Story: Derek & Natalie 

These lovebirds met in 9th grade English class at Ottawa Hills High School (Class of '98) when Natalie called out the "deep baritone voice" singing Boys to Men in the back of the room. Little did she know that voice belonged to Derek, the boy who would steal her heart. Over the years, their friendship grew as they took on leadership roles and competed together in athletics and academics 

After graduating high school and Grand Valley State University, they reconnected and revealed their long-held feelings for each other. Today, they are happily married with two sons, working for Penn State University and representing their Ottawa Hills pride. Their love story is a testament to the fact that high school sweethearts can last a lifetime.
