Grand Rapids Public Schools issued the following announcement on Feb 26.
At Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Academy Black History Month is a month for highlighting a variety of historical time periods. The school has been putting on a live Black History Museum for the past four years. With last year’s event being on the topic of the Harlem Renaissance, and this year’s play being on Black sit-coms, students get to participate in an interactive learning experience for Black History Month.
The event is made different each year to keep students engaged in cross-curricular learning on the ongoing topic of Black History. Students are encouraged to guide their own learning and work together to perform for other students at MLK Leadership Academy.
