Gov. Whitmer has extended state tax deadlines to July 15. Chair of the House Tax Policy Committee, Rep. Lynn Afendoulis (R-Grand Rapids Township), released a statement on Michigan House Republicans in response to the changes.

Afendoulis said, "Extending the deadline to file income taxes in Michigan to July 15 was the right move. This will give Michigan taxpayers one less thing to worry about during this stressful time. It just isn’t realistic to expect Michiganders under stay-at-home orders to get their taxes done and filed on time, especially those who rely on tax preparers, who also may be homebound. Let’s focus on health and getting things back to normal.”

Whitmer signed the executive order March 27. Effective immediately, all state tax returns and payments that were due April 15 are now due July 15. With cities that have a deadline of April 30, the new deadline has been extended to July 31, according to 9&10 News.Taxes can be mailed in or completed online.
