Grand Rapids Public Schools issued the following announcement on Feb. 10.
The Read by Grade 3 Law, also known as Public Act 306, is now in effect. In order for students, parents, and families to be ready, we have scheduled seven meetings throughout the district during the school year. Each meeting will cover the same information, including resources to help better understand the law, how to support early reading and literacy with resources, and answer your questions: as a parent, what do you need to know about Read by Grade 3? How will this affect your child? What is the district doing to support your student in school and what can you do to support at home?
