Ferris State cross country teams secure top-10 finishes at Louisville meet

Ferris State University's men's and women's cross country teams participated in the Live In The Lou Classic on Saturday, October 5th, held at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky. Both teams finished among the top 10 in their respective divisions.

The Bulldog women's team secured third place overall in the 5K Blue Division with a total of 135 points. The University of Charlotte took first place with 51 points, followed by Illinois-Chicago with 135 points, placing them ahead of Ferris State. Senior Hanna Brock led the Bulldogs with a fourth-place finish, clocking a time of 18:18.4. Junior Whitney Farrell placed seventh with a time of 18:31.3, while Jessica Durkee finished in 33rd place at 19:05.7. Daisy Englund and Melanea Strauss completed the race in 48th and 57th places, respectively.

In the men's division, Ferris State finished tenth overall with a score of 277 points. Xavier University won the event with a score of 69, and Charlotte secured second place with 99 points out of more than thirty competing teams. Junior Cooper Sorsen led the Bulldogs' efforts with an eleventh-place finish at a time of 25:07.1. Ryan Ososki came in at position fifty-two with a time of 25:51.1, while junior Gavin Vansolkema and sophomore Ben Knuth finished sixty-sixth and seventy-seventh respectively. Senior Noah Griffith completed his race at eighty-eighth place.

Ferris State is set to compete next at the Lewis Conference Crossover on Saturday, October 12th, in Romeoville, Illinois.
