League of American Workers founder Steve Cortes said President Joe Biden’s open border policy is the cause of multiple deaths of innocent people.

“An illegal alien was charged with carjacking and killing a 25-year-old Michigan woman he’d been dating,” Cortes said in a post on X. “The illegal alien was deported from the United States in 2020, but returned. Biden’s open border claims another innocent life.”

Twenty-five year old Ruby Garcia was shot and killed on a highway in Grand Rapids by twenty-five year old Brandon Ortiz-Vite, a Mexican citizen who was living in the country illegally. The two were reportedly dating, and after an argument in the car, Ortiz-Vite admitted to shooting Garcia in the head, pulling her body out of the car, and driving away.

A Kent County sheriff’s deputy later found Garca’s body on the side of the highway, and it appeared to have been run over. Ortiz-Vite was arrested with a pistol, which he purchased illegally, and was arraigned on, March 26. The judge ordered him to be held without bail, and changed with felony murder, open murder, carjacking, carrying a concealed weapon, and felony firearm, MLive reported.

Ortiz-Vite had been deported previously, having been arrested by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in Detroit in August of 2020. He was removed to Mexico in September, but illegally crossed the border without encountering border agents sometime after that.
