GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Effective immediately, the City of Grand Rapids has lifted the boil water advisory issued on March 17, 2024. City Manager Mark Washington expressed gratitude for the swift response of the staff during the boil water period, stating, “This is exactly what our community expects in challenging times and our employees never fail to deliver.”
Washington emphasized that while residents can now resume normal water usage, the city will continue to assess the event, determine lessons learned, and improve future response strategies. Mayor Bliss also commended the community for its unity and resilience, highlighting the support from various organizations and businesses during the ordeal.
Mayor Bliss praised the community's response, stating, “When times are tough, the true character of our city shines through and Grand Rapidians always shine bright. I can’t thank our residents enough for their patience as our Water Department and City employees worked day and night to restore our water system.”
The Mayor also acknowledged the contributions of Neighborhood Associations, community organizations, non-profit partners, volunteers, and businesses in aiding the city during the water advisory.
