Grand Rapids Chamber issued the following announcement on July 9.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer vetoed bills that would have allowed for delayed summer property tax payments. We are extremely disappointed. This extension was an essential bridge into 2021 for the hardest-hit businesses and a top priority on our Smart Restart agenda.
The Grand Rapids Chamber is not giving up on these businesses. We want them to be a part of our community and our economic recovery, and we are committed to continue working with the Legislature and other stakeholders who have collaborated in this process to send the Governor another bill in July.
